A pastoral opera with Handel's elegant and flowing music, this is a refreshing adventure for those who love early music and provides a rare opportunity to see a performance of this 18th century opera. Acis and Galatea is a story from Greek mythology which tells of the love between the mortal Acis and the sea-nymph Galatea. When the jealous Cyclops Polyphemus kills Acis, Galatea transforms her lover into an immortal river spirit. The opera will be directed by Michael Shell, director of the Magic Flute last year, and conducted by Chris Crans.
